Cruiser Ships in Starforge MMO
Cruiser-class ships mark the transition from skirmish warfare to serious fleet combat. Heavily armed and armoured, cruisers can anchor a battle line, absorb sustained fire, and dish out enough damage to threaten anything short of a capital ship. They demand a mature economy and dedicated research, but in return a commander gains a hull that can win engagements outright rather than merely contesting them. Roles vary widely within the class — from tank cruisers built around hull and shields to capital-combat and trade-escort variants — making the cruiser the first true generalist heavy hull a fleet can be built around.
Best Cruisers — Top 3
Ranked by combined hull, shielding, and speed. The strongest cruiser-class hulls currently in the cruiser roster.
Iron Fortress
tank · terran federation
The Iron Fortress earned its name the hard way, surviving engagements that destroyed every other ship in its battle group and returning to port under its own power. Designed as the Federation's premier line-holder, it layers triple-redundant armour plating over an already oversized hull, and its shield emitters draw power from a dedicated generator that keeps them cycling even as the main drive falters. Enemy commanders learn quickly: do not trade with an Iron Fortress in open space, because it will win the exchange by outlasting everything you throw at it.
Merchant Galleon
trade escort · free traders
The Merchant Galleon is the Free Traders' answer to the problem of surviving profitable routes that everyone else wants to plunder. More heavily armed than any honest merchant vessel has a right to be, it combines a genuinely cavernous cargo hold with weapons batteries capable of discouraging all but the most determined pirate assault. Its modular internal layout allows the crew to reconfigure cargo, defence, and trading module ratios between port calls, adapting to whatever the next sector's threat environment demands.
