About the Game
The Galaxy Awaits
Starforge MMO is a free-to-play browser-based massively multiplayer strategy game set in a persistent, player-driven galaxy. No download. No launcher. No GPU required for the strategy layer. Just open a browser, choose your faction, and start building your empire from a single mining outpost on the edge of known space.
The galaxy is a living system. While you sleep, your mines produce, your defences hold, and your rivals plot. When you log back in, there are decisions to make: upgrade the shipyard, launch a raid on a neighbouring sector, respond to a diplomatic overture from an unknown commander, or queue the research that will unlock Tier 4 weapons. Every session matters. Every choice compounds.
Four factions shape the political landscape: the disciplined Terran Federation, the shadow-dealing Void Syndicate, the conquest-hungry Solar Empire, and the mercantile Free Traders. Each plays differently. Each has rivals and allies written into their DNA. Which flag you fly determines your starting bonuses, your fleet doctrine, and your place in the galactic hierarchy — for this universe cycle.
Built on Next.js, Three.js, and a Python FastAPI backend, Starforge MMO is a game forged by players who were tired of pay-to-win mechanics, predatory monetisation, and games that forget what made the genre great. We are building the browser MMO we always wanted to play — and inviting you to shape it with us.
The Universe
Four Factions. One Galaxy.
Every commander aligns with one of four factions at game start. Your choice defines your bonuses, your enemies, and your identity for this universe cycle.
Terran Federation
“Order through unity”
The heirs of Earth — disciplined, diplomatic, and relentlessly constructive. The Federation builds faster and negotiates better than any rival, making them the dominant force in settled space.

Void Syndicate
“Profit in the shadows”
Espionage masters and master traders operating beyond the reach of galactic law. The Syndicate excels at covert operations, market manipulation, and striking without warning.

Solar Empire
“Power through conquest”
Fuelled by star-forged plasma and imperial ambition, the Solar Empire fields the most devastating fleet weapons in the galaxy. They conquer fast, hold hard, and never retreat.

Free Traders
“Wealth through freedom”
A loose confederation of merchant fleets, mercenaries, and opportunists. Free Traders dominate the open market, adapt to any situation, and owe allegiance to nothing but profit.

How It Works
The Core Game Loop
Four phases that repeat at every scale — from your first colony to your hundredth star system.
Build
Establish your colony: mine Metal, harvest Crystal, collect Gas. Erect research labs, shipyards, and defence platforms. Your infrastructure is the foundation everything else rests on.
Research
Advance through five technology tiers. Unlock advanced weapons, superior engines, exotic material processing, and espionage capabilities. Research separates veterans from rookies.
Forge Fleet
Commission hulls from fighter to capital ship. Fit weapons, shields, and modules. Assign commanders with unique skill trees. Build fleets that match your faction's strengths and your play style.
Conquer
Raid rivals, claim contested sectors, run cooperative boss raids, dominate alliance warfare. The galaxy is finite and every star system worth having is contested by someone.
Our Philosophy
Three Principles We Will Not Compromise
We believe the golden age of browser MMOs was cut short by corporate greed. Starforge MMO is our answer to that.
Player-Driven Economy
Resource prices, trade routes, and market rates are set entirely by player supply and demand. There is no NPC market to bail out bad decisions. What you earn, you earn — and what you lose, you lose.
Fair Monetisation
Premium currency buys cosmetics only: ship skins, fleet effects, portrait frames. It cannot buy resources, research speed, fleet power, or any outcome. Your wallet never decides the result of a battle.
Community First
Major design decisions go to community vote. Balance changes are publicly discussed before deployment. The development roadmap is open. This is your game as much as ours.
