Phoenix Carrier
Faction: solar empire
Overview
The Phoenix Carrier is the Solar Empire's dedicated drone warfare platform — a ship designed from the keel up around the philosophy that the pilot in the cockpit is the most expensive and most breakable component of any fighter. By replacing pilots with autonomous solar drones coordinated through a centralised AI command web, the Phoenix can sustain combat losses that would break any conventional carrier and simply rebuild its strike capacity from onboard fabrication units. Its drone swarms adapt to enemy tactics in real time, making each engagement a learning exercise for the next.

Lore
They call it the Phoenix because its drones cannot die — they just get rebuilt. The enemy can shoot them down all day. By nightfall, the swarm is larger than it was at dawn.
Tactics
- 1
Never stop rebuilding — the Phoenix Carrier's onboard fabrication units mean your drone swarm should be at maximum strength within minutes of taking losses; prioritise keeping the carrier itself alive rather than trying to protect individual drones.
- 2
Deploy the anti-fighter flak network in active-intercept mode before launching drone wings — this protects drone bays from enemy fighters while your drones are in transit to the target.
- 3
Use the carrier's adaptive AI (which learns from each engagement) strategically: let it fight smaller opponents first to build tactical data before deploying against a main fleet.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
- +On-board fabrication units rebuild destroyed drones mid-battle, creating a self-sustaining swarm that becomes larger with engagement time rather than smaller.
- +Drone AI adapts in real time to enemy tactics, making each successive engagement against the same opponent progressively more efficient.
- +Four drone bays with simultaneous launch capacity provide the highest sustained drone sortie rate of any carrier hull at Tier 4.
Weaknesses
- −High bio_material build cost of 1,500 units ties drone fabrication efficiency to your bio-extraction infrastructure — disrupting that supply chain cripples the carrier's rebuild speed.
- −The carrier's self-defence (point-defence arrays only) is entirely dependent on the drone swarm — without it, the Phoenix itself is extremely fragile.
- −Adaptive drone AI requires time to calibrate against unfamiliar opponents; in first engagements against a new enemy fleet composition, efficiency may be below expected levels.
Recommended Modules
- drone fabrication accelerator
- solar drone bay amplifier
- anti fighter flak network upgrade
