Void Reaper

Faction: void syndicate

Overview

The Void Reaper is the Syndicate's tier-three interceptor — a single-pilot hunter designed to destroy enemy fighters and scout craft before they can relay intelligence or establish fleet coordination. Equipped with a burst-phase engine that enables three-second sprint velocities that no target can outrun, and void-tipped munitions that punch through light fighter armour as if it were foil, the Reaper is the Syndicate's preferred answer to enemy reconnaissance. Its stealth shroud operates in a reduced mode during high-speed intercept runs, trading full invisibility for a sensor return small enough to be misidentified as debris until it is far too late.

Lore

Void Reaper pilots have a motto: they never see you coming, and they never see you leaving either. This is partly because of the stealth systems, and partly because by the time you leave, there is nothing left with working sensors to observe your departure.

Tactics

  1. 1

Activate the burst-phase engine before any intercept run — the three-second sprint velocity ensures you close from sensor-misidentified-debris range to firing range before the target can react or call for support.

  2. 2

Prioritise destroying enemy Scout class ships immediately; the Void Reaper's role is intelligence denial, and a dead scout is a blind enemy fleet.

  3. 3

Run Reapers in wings of two with one as a decoy that briefly de-cloaks to draw point-defence attention while the second delivers the actual strike — splitting enemy defensive focus makes both ships more survivable.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • +Burst-phase engine provides three-second sprints that no target in the scout or light fighter category can outrun, guaranteeing intercept whenever the Reaper has line-of-sight.
  • +Reduced stealth shroud during high-speed intercept runs is sophisticated enough to register as debris — enemies frequently do not realise they are being attacked until impact.
  • +Shadow Micro-Torpedoes provide a secondary strike option for targets that survive the initial Void-Tip Autocannon pass, reducing the chance of a failed intercept mission.

Weaknesses

  • Hull of 580 and shields of 420 are extremely thin even for a fighter — once detected, the Void Reaper survives only seconds under return fire.
  • 150 antimatter build cost is significant for a Tier 3 fighter and makes running Reaper wings in large numbers economically demanding.
  • Stealth effectiveness is partially compromised during the burst-phase intercept sprint, creating a narrow window where alert enemies may achieve a targeting lock.

Recommended Modules

  • burst phase engine booster
  • void tip autocannon upgrade
  • shadow micro torpedo rack
