Competitive Mode

Ranked PvP — Competitive Fleet Battles in Starforge MMO

6 divisions. Season resets. No pay-to-win advantage.

Division System

Six divisions from Bronze to Grandmaster. Your placement is determined by MMR — not by time spent or money paid.

Bronze

0 – 999 MMR

Entry-level ranked. Placement matches determine your starting bracket here or above.

Silver

1,000 – 1,499 MMR

Fundamentals tested. Fleet composition and basic positioning matter here.

Gold

1,500 – 1,999 MMR

Mid-tier competition. Module optimisation and formation discipline become critical.

Platinum

2,000 – 2,499 MMR

High-skill tier. Real-time counter-picks and split-second retreats define outcomes.

Diamond

2,500 – 2,999 MMR

Elite tier. Less than 5% of active players reach Diamond in any given season.

Grandmaster

3,000+ MMR

Top 500 commanders per server. Season leaderboard displayed publicly.

How Ranking Works

MMR Calculation

Starforge Ranked uses an ELO-derived MMR system. Every match outcome adjusts your MMR based on expected probability. Beating a higher-MMR opponent gains more; losing to a lower-MMR opponent costs more. The system converges quickly to an accurate skill rating.

Fleet composition, modules, and match duration have no direct MMR weight — only win/loss outcome counts.

Placement Matches

Every new season starts with 10 placement matches. Your performance in these matches, combined with your previous season MMR (if applicable), determines your starting division. Experienced players placed in Bronze due to soft reset will climb quickly.

Season resets apply a 20% soft compression of MMR — not a full wipe. Your season 1 Diamond commander will start in low Platinum, not Bronze.

Season Rewards

All ranked rewards are cosmetic only. No combat power. No pay shortcut. Your rank is the only thing that earns these.

Our Promise — Zero P2W

The Starforge MMO monetisation model is cosmetics only, and that policy applies with absolute force to the ranked ladder. No premium currency purchase ever affects your MMR, your division standing, the ships or modules available to you in ranked, or the quality of your matchmaking pool.

Every ship class and every module type available in ranked can be earned through normal gameplay. A free-to-play commander with optimal gear faces no disadvantage against a spending commander. This is a design commitment, not a PR statement — it is enforced at the architecture level.

Grandmaster is earned, not purchased. Period.

Ranked vs Casual

Not every battle needs to count. Casual PvP exists for experimentation, warmup, and playing with friends without MMR pressure.

Ranked FAQ

Common questions about the ranked system.

What is Ranked PvP in Starforge MMO?

Ranked PvP is a competitive fleet battle mode where players are matched based on MMR (Matchmaking Rating). Winning raises your MMR and division standing; losing lowers it. At season end, division placement determines cosmetic reward tiers.

Can I buy my rank or MMR in Starforge MMO?

No. MMR is determined entirely by match outcomes. Premium currency cannot purchase MMR boosts, division placement, or any ranked advantage. The ranked ladder is a pure skill competition.

How does MMR work in Starforge Ranked?

MMR uses an ELO-derived system. Each match adjusts your MMR based on the expected outcome. Beating higher-ranked opponents gives more MMR; losing to lower-ranked opponents costs more. Your visible division rank reflects your MMR bracket.
