Expeditions — Send Your Fleet into the Deep Galaxy

3 risk levels. Rare artifacts. Wormhole discoveries.

How Expeditions Work

Expeditions are asynchronous fleet missions that run in real time while you are offline. Select a fleet, choose a risk tier, and dispatch. Your ships will travel, explore, encounter, and return — with results waiting in your notification panel.

01

Select Your Fleet

Open the Expedition panel and choose a fleet from your hangar. Larger, higher-tier fleets improve discovery odds and reduce loss risk. The Explorer build (see below) significantly enhances all outcomes.

02

Choose Risk Level

Select Safe (0% loss), Risky (15% loss chance), or Extreme (35% loss chance). Risk determines both the reward ceiling and how long the mission runs — from 1 hour to 24 hours.

03

Dispatch & Wait

Your fleet is locked for the mission duration. Real-world time passes — you can play the rest of the game, log out, sleep. The expedition resolves on its own schedule.

04

Collect Results

When your fleet returns, you receive a detailed expedition log: what sectors were scanned, what was found, and — on Risky or Extreme — which ships made it back. Loot transfers automatically to your inventory.

3 Risk Levels

Higher risk means higher rewards and longer run times. Ships lost on Risky or Extreme expeditions are permanently destroyed — choose wisely.

Safe

1 – 4 hours0% ship loss100% fleet returns

Low-risk exploration of mapped sectors. Returns modest resources and common blueprints. Ideal for new commanders building an exploration habit without risk to their fleet.

Possible Drops

  • Common resources (Metal, Crystal)
  • Common blueprints
  • Sector survey data
  • Occasional Uncommon artefact

Risky

4 – 12 hours15% ship loss chanceUp to 1 ship may not return

Unmapped outer-ring sectors. Higher yields and the possibility of wormhole detection, Rare blueprints, and ancient ruin entries. Losing a ship is possible but rare on this tier.

Possible Drops

  • Uncommon–Rare resources
  • Rare blueprints (chance)
  • Wormhole coordinates
  • Ancient ruin entry tokens
  • NPC contact introduction

Extreme

12 – 24 hours35% ship loss chanceMultiple ships may be lost

Deep-void anomaly zones beyond mapped space. The highest possible returns — Epic and Legendary artefacts, unique wormhole chains, and ancient technology fragments. Real risk of permanent fleet losses.

Possible Drops

  • Rare–Epic–Legendary artefacts
  • Legendary blueprint fragments
  • Unique wormhole chains
  • Pre-collapse technology fragments
  • Ancient ruin full access

What You Can Find

Five distinct discovery categories, each with their own value chain and uses.

Resources

Metal, Crystal, Rare Minerals, and anomalous compounds unavailable through normal mining. Volume scales with risk level.

Artefacts

Pre-collapse relics with passive bonuses when installed in your command station or flagships. Rarity from Common to Legendary.

Wormholes

Stable wormhole coordinates giving access to otherwise unreachable sectors. Some lead to permanent resource zones; others are one-way.

Ancient Ruins

Multi-stage dungeon-like encounters with your fleet in an automated battle sequence. Unique loot tables distinct from open-world drops.

NPC Contacts

Deep-space contacts who offer repeatable missions, black-market blueprints, and intelligence on rival factions — all exclusive to expedition discovery.

The Explorer Build

Expedition outcomes are not fixed. Investing in the Exploration skill branch significantly improves discovery rates, reduces loss probability, extends the range of destinations available, and unlocks expedition-only passive abilities.

A maxed Exploration branch commander on an Extreme expedition has approximately a 22% loss chance (down from 35%) and a 3x higher chance of Legendary artefact discovery. The build investment pays for itself in the first long expedition.

Key Exploration skills

  • Deep Scan — increases rare artefact discovery chance by 40%
  • Void Navigation — reduces Extreme loss probability by 10%
  • Anomaly Sense — chance to auto-detect wormholes passively
  • Ancient Protocol — unlocks access to ruin loot tier 3

The Galaxy Is Larger Than Any Map

Dispatch your fleet and discover what lies beyond the charted sectors. Wormholes, ruins, and relics of a pre-collapse civilisation are out there — waiting.
