The Crafting System in Starforge MMO

4 crafting professions. Legendary blueprints. Real economy.

Craft to Dominate

Every ship, weapon, module, and consumable in Starforge MMO can be crafted by players. There are no P2W shortcuts — the best gear in the galaxy comes from high-level crafters with legendary blueprints, not from a cash shop.

Crafting is a parallel career path. A level-50 Shipwright who never fires a weapon in combat can be as influential in the galaxy as the best fleet commander — because every fleet commander needs their ships. The crafting economy is real, persistent, and driven entirely by supply and demand between players.

Blueprints are discovered through gameplay: exploration expeditions, boss raid drops, anomaly scanning, and seasonal events. Once you have a blueprint, you can craft from it indefinitely — or sell the blueprint itself on the player market for profit.

Not pay-to-win

Premium currency in Starforge MMO never purchases blueprints, crafting materials, or crafted items. It is cosmetics only. The best gear in the game will always come from the best crafters.

4 Crafting Professions

Specialise in one or level all four — though mastery in a single profession unlocks the most powerful blueprints.

Shipwright

Ship hulls & hull upgrades

Craft hulls from scout frigates to capital battleships. Shipwrights set the foundation of every fleet in the galaxy — their blueprints determine hull integrity, slot counts, and faction bonuses.

Max level50

Weaponsmith

Weapons & weapon mods

Forge the weapons that win battles. From basic railguns to legendary plasma lances, Weaponsmiths supply the combat layer of the player economy. High-level Weaponsmiths unlock weapon enchants unavailable elsewhere.

Max level50

Engineer

Modules & support systems

Build the modules that support every other system — shields, sensors, engines, repair drones, and power cores. Engineers are the backbone of fleet sustainability and the most consistently in-demand profession.

Max level50

Chemist

Consumables & catalysts

Synthesise fuel compounds, combat stims, repair nanites, and rare catalysts used in high-end crafting recipes. Chemists have the smallest player base and therefore command premium market prices.

Blueprint Rarity

Five rarity tiers determine base stats and where blueprints drop. Common blueprints are your first steps; Legendary blueprints are the pinnacle of the crafting economy.

Common

Drop Sources

Starter cache, NPC pirate drops, crafting vendors

Stat Bonus

Base stats. No bonus modifiers.

Uncommon

Drop Sources

Tier-2 pirate camps, sector exploration, market

Stat Bonus

+5–10% to one primary stat.

Rare

Drop Sources

Boss raids (Difficulty 4+), deep sector anomalies

Stat Bonus

+15–25% to two stats. One implicit modifier.

Epic

Drop Sources

Expedition extreme tier, limited seasonal events

Stat Bonus

+30–40% stats. Two implicit modifiers. Unique trait roll.

Legendary

Drop Sources

Grandmaster crafters only — requires 3 Epic catalyst components

Stat Bonus

Best-in-slot stats. Unique named effect. Tradeable once.

Quality System

Every crafting attempt rolls a quality outcome. Higher profession level shifts the roll probability toward superior outcomes — master crafters produce Masterwork items other players cannot.

Economy Impact

Crafted items flow directly into the player market. There are no NPC stores selling competitive gear — if a player needs a Superior-grade Shield Module, they buy it from another player who crafted it. Prices are determined by supply, demand, and the skill level of available crafters.

This creates a real economy: resource scarcity, seasonal material price spikes, crafting service markets ("bring me the materials and I'll craft it"), and faction-specific blueprint exclusives that drive inter-faction trade diplomacy.

Masterwork items are the rarest and most expensive goods in the game. A single Masterwork Legendary capital ship hull can sustain a skilled crafter's income for an entire week. The market is genuinely emergent.
